SUNY Upstate Medical University is an academic health center in Syracuse, combining University Hospital with colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Health Professions and Graduate Studies. It trains the next generation of doctors, nurses and health care workers while also treating patients, all from one campus in the city.
As an academic health center, Upstate brings teaching, research and patient care together on Syracuse’s University Hill, a neighborhood that is also home to Syracuse University and SUNY ESF. It is one of the region’s major health care institutions and a significant employer in Onondaga County.
