Springfield 4th of July Parade & Celebration
About
The Springfield 4th of July Parade & Celebration is an annual Independence Day event in Springfield Center, at the north end of Otsego Lake near Cooperstown. The parade dates to 1914, which makes it one of the oldest Independence Day parades in the country and a tradition for generations of local families.
Fire departments, veterans’ groups and community organizations from across the region march in a nearly hour-long parade with floats, marching bands and equestrians. The celebration continues at the Springfield Community Center with a chicken barbecue, live music, a quilt show, 4-H farm animals and raffles.
