R. Milton Hick State Forest covers 1,293 acres near Roseboom in Otsego County, a working forest that shows every stage of the forest cycle in one place. Visitors will find mature mixed hardwoods, softwood plantations, young growth and areas that were recently logged.

Hiking and cross-country skiing are the main recreation. The Susquehanna Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club maintains a Nordic ski trail here, marked with yellow trail markers. Most trails follow old logging roads and cross two low ridges, with generally easy walking and a few short, moderately steep climbs.
