Plainfield State Forest is a 1,403-acre state forest in Otsego County, near Burlington Flats. It has large undeveloped stretches of woods and fields, and there are no designated trails, so hiking and snowshoeing are allowed anywhere on the property for people who like to roam.

Otsego County lies on the eastern end of the Central Appalachian ecozone, which supports plenty of wildlife. Along with notable game species and furbearers, the forest is home to a variety of songbirds and birds of prey, so it is a good place to bring binoculars.
