Otsego 2000 is a not-for-profit organization in Cooperstown, at the southern end of Otsego Lake, founded in 1981 to make sure the Otsego Lake region remains a masterpiece of nature. It works to protect and support the area’s environmental, scenic, cultural, historic and agricultural resources, along with its economic well-being.
The group sees the region’s landscapes, valleys, villages and farms as a unique mix of resources that supports both the economy and residents’ quality of life. It advances its mission through informed advocacy, intelligent planning, public education and sustainable economic alternatives, and it acts as a first responder on environmental issues affecting the lake region and beyond.
