Oswego Opera Theatre

About

Oswego Opera Theatre is a community opera company in Oswego County that has staged fully produced musical works since 1978, when it began under the direction of Dr. James J. Soluri. Its annual productions bring together hundreds of local musicians, technicians, designers, costumers and lighting engineers.

The company’s first full-scale production was Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore, and its repertoire has since grown to include Mozart, Puccini, Bizet and Verdi, plus modern works by Carlisle Floyd, Leonard Bernstein and Kurt Weill. It also gives aspiring young singers the chance to perform leading roles that larger opera houses would not offer.
