Oriskany Flats

About

Oriskany Flats is a 750-acre stretch of fallow farmland near Oriskany, left to grow back in various stages of natural succession. About 15 percent of the property is wetland habitat, a combination of open ground and wet areas that wildlife tends to favor and that gives nature lovers plenty to look at.

That mix of fields, regrowth and wetland draws a lot of animals, with songbirds, waterfowl, shorebirds, hawks and more among the wildlife. It is the kind of place that rewards birders, photographers and anyone who likes to watch nature at its own pace.
