Onondaga Golf & Country Club

About

Onondaga Golf & Country Club in Fayetteville traces its roots to April 20, 1898, when 74 charter members got the club started. It is one of the older golf clubs in the Syracuse area, and its early days are unusually well documented, including a few colorful notes from the local paper.

The first headquarters was on the Hiscock Farm, about three miles from the city on the new line of the Syracuse and Suburban Railroad. The first building was a simple wagon shed that served as the locker room, and a modest clubhouse followed before the end of 1898.
