Lannie’s Tavern

About

Lannie’s Tavern bills itself as your new old favorite on Onondaga Hill, the hilltop community southwest of downtown Syracuse. The cozy bar has been feeding and watering neighbors for decades, first as Kelley’s and more recently as Chelsea’s. It’s the sort of bar where regulars get to know the bartenders.

Heather and Adam Van Hoose, longtime locals, have brought it back to its roots as a true neighborhood bar, with hot burgers, cold beer and a warm welcome. Expect classic pub fare, a friendly crew behind the bar and maybe a few surprises once the regulars settle in.

What to Know

  • The tavern was Kelley’s and later Chelsea’s before becoming Lannie’s.
  • Heather and Adam Van Hoose are the longtime locals behind the new version.
  • Burgers and classic pub fare are the draw.
  • It works for an after-work bite, a game with friends or a family dinner.
  • The bar’s own joke is that everybody knows your drink order by week two.
