Hamilton Initiative

Hamilton Initiative is a limited liability corporation whose sole member is Colgate University. It was created more than 20 years ago to buy and renovate buildings and recruit retail businesses, adding to the economic vitality of the Village of Hamilton and its downtown core, where the corporation has been an active owner.

Since then it has invested more than $30 million in the village and owns ten key buildings, including the Colgate Inn, Hamilton Theater, Colgate Bookstore and Palace Theater. It also owns a site planned for a new mixed-use building with apartments, retail, office and restaurant space.
