Fortin Park

About

Fortin Park is the Town of Oneonta’s largest park, a 95-acre expanse of trails, water, wooded groves and open fields on the town’s east end. It is bordered by the Susquehanna River and Charlotte Creek, and it is meant for low-impact recreation in a quiet setting.

Locals use it for picnics, hiking, cross-country skiing, fishing, softball, soccer and playground time with the kids. It is also a popular place to watch the General Clinton Canoe Regatta each Memorial Day, when paddlers make their way down the Susquehanna.

  • A handicap-accessible fishing pier gives anglers access to the river and creek.
  • Horseshoe pits, a volleyball net and a regulation softball diamond are available.
  • Hiking and ski trails make the park a year-round destination.
