Flying Fish Charters
About
Lake Ontario fishing out of New Haven, in Oswego County, is the specialty of Flying Fish Charters, which fishes the Mexico Bay area. Trips run aboard a 30-foot Sportcraft fully equipped with tackle and electronics, and the captain guides guests to where the fish are currently hitting.
The season starts at ice-out with good brown trout fishing, then summer brings lake trout, brown trout, steelhead and salmon. Tackle-busting salmon usually arrive around the start of August and run through September, when catches of 20 to 30 pounds are common and 40-pounders are not unheard of.
