Dig Safely New York, Inc., also called UDig NY, is the place where safe digging in Upstate New York starts. It is the link between people planning to dig and the underground utility operators, with a contact center that receives and transmits location requests for the whole region.
Excavators, contractors and homeowners can place and manage requests around the clock, every day of the year, through industry software called Exactix. The system sends notifications of intent to dig to the utilities, so lines can be marked before the first shovel goes in.
