Cuppa Candles

About

Behind Cuppa Candles in Syracuse is Sarah, a one-woman candle company who pours soy wax candles. The idea took shape in 2015 when she went looking for an eco-friendly alternative to standard candle-making supplies, and the upcycled mug candle, the original cuppa, was born. It is a small operation with a lot of personality.

The line has since grown to include jarred candles, flame-free home fragrances and custom scents. The shop also runs downtown Syracuse’s first DIY Candle Bar inside McCarthy Mercantile, where visitors build a custom blend and pour their own candle when they are ready.

What to Know

  • The Candle Bar is walk-in friendly for groups of up to four or five people.
  • Larger groups, such as birthdays, bachelorettes or team-building, can reserve a Private Pour.
  • The original product was the upcycled mug candle, which still turns up in the lineup.
  • While a candle cures, the owner is happy to suggest nearby downtown shops, restaurants and entertainment.
  • Featured by Visit Syracuse, the Onondaga County visitors bureau.
