Camillus Erie Canal Park/Sims Store Museum

About

Just west of Syracuse, Camillus Erie Canal Park is a 400-acre wooded park built around a restored section of the canal. At its heart is the Sims Store Museum, a replica of an 1860s canal-side store that gives visitors a feel for life along the waterway.

The park is home to the only restored navigable aqueduct in New York State, and nine miles of trails and two picnic areas make it a good stop for walkers and families. The Steam Engine project features a 450-horsepower engine that once generated electricity for the L.C. Smith Typewriter Company.
