BACA- Bosnian American Community Association

About

Utica’s Bosnian community has a home base in BACA, the Bosnian American Community Association, a nonprofit in the Mohawk Valley city. It’s minority owned, and its work centers on the people and culture of one of Utica’s best-known immigrant communities. Associations like this one often become the place where newcomers and longtime residents find each other.

Utica has welcomed a large Bosnian community since the 1990s, when many families arrived as refugees from the war in Bosnia. Over the years the community has become part of the city’s identity, and its businesses and cultural groups are woven into daily life.
