Asa Wing House

About

On Christmas Eve in 1851, abolitionist Asa Wing sheltered people escaping slavery at his home in Mexico, in Oswego County. The house is remembered as a stop on the Underground Railroad, the network of safe places that helped freedom seekers head north.

The Asa Wing House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in December 2001, 150 years after that night. Visit Oswego County features it among the area’s Underground Railroad sites.
