Three Mile Point

About

About three miles north of Cooperstown on the west side of Otsego Lake, Three Mile Point is a small village-run park built for swimming, picnicking and lake views. The park covers just over an acre in the Town of Otsego and can be reached by car or by boat.

Facilities include a swim dock, a boat dock with six slips, an open picnic pavilion, a bathhouse from 1918 and an accessible fishing pier and lake-viewing ramp. There are picnic tables, nine stationary barbecue cookers, benches and a canoe and kayak rack. A caretaker is in residence seasonally, from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

What to Know

  • Residents of the Village of Cooperstown and the Town of Otsego use the park for free, while other visitors need a day or season pass.
  • The bathhouse dates to 1918, and the fishing pier was donated by the Cooperstown Rotary Club in 1992.
  • The fishing pier and a lake-viewing ramp are accessible for people with disabilities.
  • A canoe and kayak rack is available, with rentals arranged through the Village Office.
  • Organized events and pavilion rentals need a permit from the Village of Cooperstown.
