Salmon River Falls Unique Area
About
A 110-foot waterfall is the main event at Salmon River Falls Unique Area, a 112-acre parcel of state land in Orwell, Oswego County. The Salmon River Falls drop into a scenic gorge, and together the falls and gorge make this one of the more popular outdoor stops in the area.
A 600-foot Gorge Trail leads from the Falls Trail down to the bottom of the gorge. It includes two sections of stairs and is steep and demanding, so it suits only people who are physically fit. The trail was built in 2000 by an Adirondack Mountain Club crew working under contract with the DEC.
