Pioneer Park & Information Kiosk
About
Pioneer Park is a tiny village green in the center of Cooperstown, covering just 0.12 acre along Main Street. The land sat empty after a fire destroyed the buildings on it in November 1961. The Scriven Foundation bought it in 1962 and gave it to the Village of Cooperstown to use as a park.
The Lake and Valley Garden Club handled early landscaping and earned a plaque in the park. A 2019 update added brick pavers, new plantings and a raised stage. Today the park holds the tourist information kiosk, benches and a small stage for music, speakers and community events.
