Oswego Town Historian

About

The Oswego Town Historian looks after the history of the Town of Oswego in Oswego County, which was formed from Hannibal on April 20, 1818. A part of Granby was added to the town on May 20, 1836, giving it the boundaries that shaped its later history.

The town lies on the shore of Lake Ontario, on the west side of the Oswego River, with rolling land that ends in a bluff along the lake. Its streams include Eight Mile, Rice, Snake and Minetto Creeks, and a fall in the Oswego River within the town provides plentiful water power.
