Onondaga Creekwalk

About

The Onondaga Creekwalk is a 4.8-mile paved, off-road trail that runs mostly alongside Onondaga Creek in Syracuse. It is designed for bicyclists, skaters and walkers, and the whole route is accessible, which makes it an easy way to take in the city’s history and culture.

The path links the city’s Southside neighborhood to historic Armory Square downtown and then carries on to Onondaga Lake, a favorite with birders. Along the way there are several road crossings, so keep an eye out at the intersections.

What to Know

  • The whole route is paved and off-road, apart from a few road crossings.
  • It starts in the Southside, passes through Armory Square and ends at Onondaga Lake.
  • Onondaga Lake at the end of the trail is described as a birder’s paradise.
  • Bicyclists, skaters and pedestrians all share the path.
