Labrador Hollow State Unique Area
About
Labrador Hollow State Unique Area is a protected natural area near Tully in southern Onondaga County. Glaciers carved the hollow thousands of years ago, leaving behind a kettle lake surrounded by steep hills, and the area can be reached from Route 91. It’s a quiet place for a walk in the woods.
Because the hills block the sun for much of the day, the hollow stays shady, and the plant life looks more like that of a high mountain bog than a typical Central New York woodland. Some of the plants and animals here are rare or endangered. Visitors come for leaf-peeping, hiking, canoeing, birdwatching and fishing.
