Hyde Hall Covered Bridge
About
Hyde Hall Covered Bridge is part of the historic Hyde Hall estate near Cooperstown, home to a 50-room country house that has overlooked James Fenimore Cooper’s fabled “Glimmerglass” for more than 200 years. The site sits inside Glimmerglass State Park in Otsego County. Visitors come for the history, the architecture and the setting.
The guided tour runs about 50 minutes and covers the house’s construction, decline and resurrection. Guests see what the site calls the finest two rooms built in a private American home before 1840, along with many original furnishings, and hear how five generations lived on the estate between 1819 and 1943.
