Herkimer Home Historic Site is the former home of General Nicholas Herkimer in Little Falls, in Herkimer County. Herkimer was a Revolutionary War militia general in the Mohawk Valley, and the site preserves his story. He was wounded at the Battle of Oriskany in 1777 and died at his home.
Visitors can tour the mansion, gardens and grounds while learning about the region’s colonial and Revolutionary history. The site is a museum on the Mohawk River, a short drive from downtown Little Falls, and a good fit for a history-minded afternoon.
