Green Lakes State Park
About
Green Lakes State Park near Fayetteville is built around two glacial lakes ringed by upland forest. Round Lake and Green Lake are meromictic, which means their surface and bottom waters never mix in fall and spring, so the lakes hold clues to ancient plant and animal life.
The park has a large beach, athletic fields, an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones and about 10 miles of trails for hiking and cross-country skiing. Winter brings snowshoeing, and camping is available. Five pavilions and rooms can host weddings and other events for 40 to 100 guests.
