Greater Oneonta Historical Society
About
Greater Oneonta Historical Society is the keeper of local history for the city and town of Oneonta, in Otsego County. It was founded in 1939 as the Upper Susquehanna Historical Society and has grown into one of the largest local history groups in Central New York.
Its collections run to thousands of items, including photographs, postcards, portraits, clothing and ephemera from life in the Upper Susquehanna region. They are housed at the Oneonta History Center, in the oldest brick building in the Oneonta Downtown Historic District, which also holds exhibits, a resource library and a gift shop.

- Summer walking tours have covered downtown, Main Street history, the Sixth Ward and Glenwood Cemetery.
- An annual benefit auction in the fall supports the non-profit society.
