Great Swamp Conservancy
About
Great Swamp Conservancy is Madison County’s only nature center, set on wetlands and fields outside Canastota. Seven miles of easy trails wind through the property, which the National Audubon Society has designated an Important Bird Area, a distinction that speaks to the quality of its bird habitat.
Birdwatching and wildlife viewing are good here year-round. The grounds also hold a restored farmhouse and barn from the 1820s, which host community events and educational exhibits, so a visit can mix a walk outdoors with a bit of local history.
