Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park is the nonprofit partner of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse. The zoo itself was founded in 1914 and is among the top 10 percent of zoos in North America to earn accreditation from the Association of Zoos & Aquariums.
More than 700 animals from 216 species live at the zoo, from tiny poison dart frogs to 8,000-pound Asian elephants, many of them threatened or endangered. The zoo works with its nonprofit Friends partner to give visitors experiences that connect people to the natural world and support wildlife conservation.
