Courthouse Park
About
Courthouse Park in Cortland is a downtown park that is home to a 9/11 memorial built from artifacts from the World Trade Center site. The memorial gives residents and visitors a quiet place to reflect. Cortland is the county seat, and the park is a small public space in the middle of town.
Its pentagon-shaped foundation honors those lost at the Pentagon and stands for strength. Two steel towers of twisted metal rising from the rubble honor those lost at the World Trade Center and stand for perseverance. A plaque shaped like Pennsylvania honors those lost in the field in Somerset County, and stands for courage.
