Council Rock Park
About
Council Rock Park is a small village park in Cooperstown with a magnificent view of Otsego Lake and a significant place in local history. It sits on about an acre and a quarter on the west bank of the mouth of the Susquehanna River. It is open to the public.
Council Rock is tied to the Clinton-Sullivan Expedition of 1779, and the entrance is marked by two stone columns with historical markers and a large painted arrow that points to true north. Stone steps lead down to the water, and the park is a favorite spot for watching fireworks, canoe regattas and weddings.
