Cortland County Historical Society

About

Since 1925, the Cortland County Historical Society has been sharing the stories of Cortland County. It is home to the Suggett House Museum and the Kellogg Memorial Research Center, which together make it the county’s history hub. The society is based in the city of Cortland.

The museum was once the home of James and Jane Suggett and their family, and the house itself is an Italianate building constructed in 1882. Inside, a gallery of vignettes uses objects from the society’s extensive collection to tell the county’s story, and the exhibits change so there is always something new.
