Christ Church, Episcopal
About
Christ Church, Episcopal, is a historic church in Cooperstown, and the church itself dates back to 1807. The church and its chapel hold services open to all, and visitors also come to appreciate the history, the architecture and the Tiffany stained glass.
The grounds hold the grave of James Fenimore Cooper, the novelist whose family gave Cooperstown its name. A free, self-guided Cooper Plot Tour uses interpretive signs to tell the story of the rectory, church, chapel and grave site, and donations are appreciated. The Parish House has a meeting room that seats up to 90, with a full kitchen attached.
