Canadarago Lake and State Marine Park
About
Canadarago Lake and State Marine Park is a state-run boat launch on Canadarago Lake near Richfield Springs in Otsego County. The lake is described as one of the cleanest and clearest in New York, and the launch has dual concrete ramps that make getting a boat in the water straightforward.
This is strictly a launch site, so it is about boats rather than beach days. There are a couple of picnic tables and portable toilets, with parking set aside for trucks and boat trailers. In winter, the site gives anglers a way onto the ice for fishing.
What to Know
- The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation operates the launch.
- Swimming is not allowed at the launch, but Baker’s Beach, about a mile away, permits it.
- A vehicle use fee applies in season, from Memorial Day to Columbus Day.
- Parking is limited, with about 40 spaces for cars with trailers and a handful for cars alone.
- Special events or activities require a special use permit from the park office.
