Badger Park

About

Cooperstown’s Badger Park is a small village park of about two and a half acres, set beside the grocery store and surrounded by residential streets. It’s the kind of neighborhood green space locals use daily, with a playground, picnic tables and benches for an easy break.

The blacktop does double duty, serving as a basketball court in warm weather and turning into an ice rink in winter, complete with a warming hut. A mural painted by local students decorates the back of the neighboring store.

What to Know

  • The playground has equipment designed for younger kids and for older children.
  • In winter the blacktop becomes an ice skating rink, weather permitting, with a warming hut nearby.
  • Summer brings basketball on the blacktop and picnic tables for casual lunches.
  • Organized events in the park require a permit from the Village of Cooperstown.
  • A mural by local students decorates the back of the neighboring grocery store.
