American Medical Response (AMR)

American Medical Response of Central New York, known as AMR, is an ambulance service based in Syracuse that has been caring for patients since 1953, counting its local predecessor companies. Paramedics and EMTs respond to more than 50,000 calls a year, and the service describes itself as the area’s only CAAS accredited ambulance provider.

AMR is the primary provider of 911 ambulance service for communities across its six-county territory, which includes Onondaga, Cayuga, Madison, Herkimer, Montgomery and Schoharie counties. The team works alongside police, fire, 911 and healthcare organizations to deliver an integrated approach to the region’s emergency medical needs.
